The current configuration of the municipality mends 1901 when it divided in two after desanexionarse of Santurce and to be named Santurce-Ortuella and Santurce Antiguo respectively. For the resolution of March 27, 1981 of the Vicecommission of Local administration published in the BOPV of May 29 of the same one year, changed to itself the official name of the municipality of Santurce-Ortuella to Ortuella.
