It occupies a natural place of narrow vales and steep hillsides that serve, at least from the Middle Age, like transit route towards Gipuzkoa across the port of San Miguel. more ancient testimony is related to prehistoric stages; it treats about a funeral structure erected by human groups dedicated to the pasture. It was a porch belonging to the merindad of Markina.
Palace of Munibe Barrio of Munibe:
The farm of the Counts of Peñaflorida in his original nucleus was constituted by the ancient tower of Munibe, given to the river and at present with more formal and volumetric hamlet resemblance, her chapel of the Prop, of which today it reduces a bulrush, and a house topographically higher, and therefore less shady, built about 1700 and that at the end of the XIXth century was bought by Adolfo of Urquijo.
